Since 2020, Summer Wesson has supported dozens of Catalina Channel crossings, in the roles of kayaker, observer, crew chief, and companion swimmer. Local to San Diego, she works year round as both kayak support and land crew for the Around Coronado Swims through OWSA. She has also supported a variety of swimmers, ranging from first timers to IMSHOF honor athletes and record holders, providing tailored support to each individual athlete.

As a marathon swimmer herself, Summer recently became the first documented swimmer to cross from Cancun to Isla Mujeres and back. Because of her experience both as a swimmer and as swim support, she is able to understand the unique needs of different types of swimmers, which allows her to better troubleshoot arising issues like dehydration, hypothermia, and open water fears.
