Susan Sotir, phd

Susan Sotir, PhD specializes in customized endurance sport and triathlon coaching designed specifically for an athlete’s personal goals and life demands. Sue favors an evidence - informed coaching approach, integrating high quality scientific findings with tracking technology and individual athlete thoughts, feelings, and experiences. In addition, Sue also serves as a coach mentor and educator, helping other coaches build the knowledge necessary to ground coaching decisions in physiological mechanisms of action, motor learning, biomechanics, and sport psychology.

Sue brings over 30 years of swim and triathlon coaching experience to Breakthrough Performance Coaching, working with novices to elite and professional athletes. She has been a member of the coaching staff for a number of USA Triathlon development camps: Junior Draft Legal Skills and Select Camps, Collegiate Draft Legal Triathlon Camp, Junior Elite Specialty Camp, and Junior Women’s High Performance Camp at the USA Olympic Training Center. She holds her Ph.D. in Sport and Exercise Psychology from Springfield College, is a USA Triathlon Level III coach, and holds several additional certifications: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA-CSCS), Ironman U Coach, and Precision Nutrition (Pn1).
