Dan Simonelli is the owner of Open Water Swim Academy, an award-winning open water swimming coach and Honor Coach inductee of the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame. With a passion for guiding swimmers of all levels, Dan has coached athletes to complete some of the world’s most challenging swims, including the English Channel, Catalina Channel, and Kaiwi Channel.

Recognized for his contributions to the sport, Dan has received the Streeter Award for Service to Marathon Swimming and the Barra Award for Best Overall Year. He was also named among the World’s 50 Most Adventurous Open Water Men by the World Open Water Swimming Association and earned the Carnegie Hero Award for lifesaving bravery.

A former competitive swimmer, U.S. Marine Corps Water Survival Instructor, and Ocean Lifeguard-EMT, Dan brings decades of expertise and dedication to the open water swimming community.

Dan is the organizer for the Around Coronado Swim and runs several swim camps throughout the year!
